A Little Joy

(Felicity Urquhart)

APRA

The heart itself grows lonely
When love is worn and used
Bitter words have faded
Passion it once knew
Sitting out the weather
Counting on the sun
To dry out all the teardrops
Kept from everyone

Looking forward to a little joy
Sunshine welcome here to fill the void
The tiny breath of a little girl or a little boy
Would bring a little joy

With age comes silent wisdom
If no-one gives a dam
Waiting for the passing of the hour hand
Trapped within a body
Wearing down with time
The keeper of the stories
And the nursery rhymes

Looking forward to a little joy
Sunshine welcome here to fill the void
The tiny breath of a little girl or a little boy
Would bring a little joy

Marvel at the wonder created out of love
Lift away the sadness
The wings of this pure dove

Looking forward to a little joy
Sunshine welcome here to fill the void
The tiny breath of a little girl or a little boy
Would bring a little joy
