Three Golden opportunities come Felicity’s way

 There’s no trace of a Big Black Cloud hovering over superb singer-songwriter Felicity Urquhart with the announcement of her three Golden Guitar finalist berths.

Felicity is in contention for Album of the Year for My Life; together with Video Clip of the Year and Female Artist of the Year for her hit single, Big Black Cloud. Felicity co-wrote the song with American hitmaker and Grammy award winning producer, Randy Scruggs. 

This latest announcement adds to the excitement and anticipation of the Tam CM Festival, when Felicity has the opportunity to return to her hometown and catch up with all her friends.

Felicity is also a finalist in the People’s Choice Awards (for Female Vocal and Album of the Year) and in the TIARAs, in Female Vocal.

In the VIC CM Awards, announced in February 2007, Felicity is a finalist in four categories of the national section – Female Vocalist, Songwriters’ Composition, Best Independent Release and Bluegrass/Traditional Country.

This year has certainly been a landmark in Felicity’s career, consolidating her name as one of the finest and most hard-working artists in the industry.

To date she has picked up accolades and awards for Best Country Artist at the 2006 Musicoz Awards; Independent Entertainer of the Year at the CMAA Achiever Awards; Female Vocalist, Album, and Single of the Year at the Australian Independent Country Music Awards and the Australian Songwriters’ Association named her Country Songwriter of the Year.

While 2006 was a stellar year in Felicity’s career, it could be that 2007 may even better that achievement for this fabulous entertainer.

Felicity named Australian Ind CM Awards Album Of The Year / Single Of The Year

Female Vocalist OF The Year

The Flood, the first single from Felicity’s highly acclaimed fifth album, My Life, took out the APRA/AMCOS Independent Country Music Single of the Year, and My Life won the One Stop Entertainment Independent Album of the Year. Felicity’s awards trifecta was complete when she was announced winner of the Independent Female Vocalist award, a trophy she also accepted in 2004.

 

Felicity named Australian Songwriters Association Country Songwriter of the Year

Felicity and co-wrter Glen Hannah, have been awarded the Australian Songwriters Associations Country Songwriter Of The Year for 2006, for their song THE FLOOD. Felicity was very honoured to have received her first ever songwriting award, particularly when The Flood is a song close to her heart, having been written about her parents.

 

GOLDEN GUITAR FINALISTS GLOWING (15/12/06)

Felicity is proud to announce she has received finalist nominations in the upcoming 35^th CMAA Australian Country Music Awards, to be held Saturday 27^th January 2007 - Album Of The Year / Female Artist Of The Year / Video Clip Of The Year

Felicity has already picked up awards for Best Country Artist at the 2006 Musicoz Awards; Independent Entertainer of the Year at the CMAA Achiever Awards; Female Vocalist, Album, and Single of the Year at the Australian Independent CM Awards and the Australian Songwriters’ Association named her Country Songwriter of the Year. Felicity is also a finalist in the 2007 TIARAs, People’s Choice Awards and VIC/NAT CM Awards. BIG BLACK CLOUD, co-written with Grammy award winning producer, Randy Scruggs, has become her first #1 hit from the album MY LIFE, with singles THE FLOOD and MY LIFE also becoming top five hits. NO BIG BLACK CLOUD FOLLOWING THIS CO-WRITING TEAM (10/11/06)

While Felicity Urquhart is riding high on a wave of success with her latest single, Big Black Cloud, the song’s co-writer is in the winner’s circle on the other side of the world. Randy Scruggs, son of legendary American bluegrass musician Earl Scruggs, is a much admired musician, songwriter and record producer. At the 40^th annual CMA Awards, announced this week in America, Randy was named Musician of the Year for the third time in seven years. He won the coveted award previously in 2003 and 1999, adding to his tally of five CMA awards (two others for his production talents).

As a writer Randy has scored seven #1 hits and has more than 100 songs recorded by major artists including Trisha Yearwood, Patty Loveless and Deana Carter. He’s also won three Grammy awards for his production and musicianship, and was honoured by the Gibson Guitar company as Country Guitarist of the Year 1999.

Felicity, who spent some time writing with him in the States on a previous visit, was absolutely delighted to hear of Randy’s big win this week. “Randy gave me the confidence to be myself,” Felicity said. “His musicianship and songwriting skills are enormous but what was most overwhelming to me was his kind heart and reserved nature.  He’s a true gem and I wish him continued success in his career.”

Felicity is having a great time with the response from radio listeners and programmers, and audiences all over the country just loving songs from her new album, My Life. Felicity was totally stoked to learn that Big Black Cloud was #1 on the Sounds Like Café chart for October. It was her first time on the chart, and to start at the top with that song was a real bonus.  Felicity is a finalist in Best Country Artist in the Musicoz Awards, to be announced in Sydney on November 14. This comes on top of her back to back wins in the CMAA Achiever Awards for Independent Entertainer of the Year.

FELICITY SCORES TRIFECTA AT INDIE AWARDS (4/10/06)

Three wins out of three starts is a great result in anyone’s language, which is just how it was for Felicity Urquhart at the Telstra CountryWide Southern Stars 10^th Annual Australian Independent Country Music Awards.

The Flood, the first single from Felicity’s highly acclaimed fifth album, My Life, took out the APRA/AMCOS Independent Country Music Single of the Year, and My Life won the One Stop Entertainment Independent Album of the Year. Felicity’s awards trifecta was complete when she was announced winner of the Independent Female Vocalist award, a trophy she also accepted in 2004. This has been a significant year in Felicity’s career to date, with numerous accolades coming her way. Although she has been writing songs for a number of years, it wasn’t until this year she actually won an award from the Australian Songwriters’ Association for her songwriting. She very proudly added this trophy to her mantelpiece already filled with MO, ACE, TIARA, CMAA Achiever and other rewards of her talent and dedication.

“I was thrilled to win one award at Mildura, let alone three,” Felicity said. “Being a fiercely independent artist, I’m just so delighted the judges have seen fit to recognise My Life in this way, and feel that Glen Hannah really did bring out the very best in me and in the musicians who worked on the project.”

Felicity will take that winning smile with her all the way through NSW and Queensland when she takes off on tour with multiple Golden Guitar winner James Blundell from October 11 to 15. Then on October 16 in Sydney, Felicity will perform as reigning Independent Entertainer of the Year at the CMAA Achiever Awards. Following that gig, it’s on the road again for this consummate performer, this time in the fine company of fellow Golden Guitar winner Adam Brand, for a series of shows in Queensland until late October.

Big Black Cloud, the third single from My Life, has just been released to radio. The song was co-written with American hitmaker Randy Scruggs and is a real showstopper at Felicity’s live concerts. FELICITY’S LIFE IS GOOD (13/09/06)

Life has been smiling down on FELICITY URQUHART throughout a hectic few months promoting her latest single and shooting episodes for Channel 7’s Sydney Weekender.

Her single MY LIFE reached #3 on the Top 30 Country Tracks chart and is currently #12 on the CMC Top 30 video chart. The track is taken from the album of the same name, MY LIFE, distributed by Shock Records.

“The support has been appreciated from not only the media but from the fans, as it’s them who come to the shows and request my songs to radio and CMC,” explains Felicity.

Recently returning from a NSW tour with Adam Brand, she is looking forward to hitting the road again in October on an acoustic tour with James Blundell, and a QLD tour mid October with Adam Brand & Carter & Carter. 

“I remember watching James when he won Starmaker, when I was a kid, so I’m honoured to be performing alongside him in a stripped-back performance – just the two of us and guitars.”

And when on Brandy’s tour we just all have a good time.”

In August Felicity was named Australian Songwriters Association’s Country Songwriter Of The Year, for her song THE FLOOD co-written with Glen Hannah. Felicity felt honoured with the award, as it was her first award in the songwriting arena.

She has also been named a finalist in the ACRA’s (Australian Country Recording Artists) Awards for Female Vocalist Of The Year, to be announced  September 30, during the Manilla CM Festival.

Felicity is the reigning CMAA’s Independent Entertainer Of The Year, and is again a finalist for this prestigious award, voted by peers and announced  at the annual Achiever Awards, Sydney Harbour Marriott, Monday 16^th  October.

Her third single BIG BLACK CLOUD from the album MY LIFE, will be released to radio shortly – co-written with Randy Scruggs, it is an intense track that helped Felicity discover her darker side.
